Whips and Kisses Review

Whips and Kisses

This book does nothing to further the reader's education regarding the Ds/SM/BD lifestyle. Rather, the story portrayed here tells of a woman with no direction or self esteem. To claim she is a dominant is an affront to the very word. She has no personal power of her own. She is just a sad little girl who has no conception of what it means to internalize either Dominance or submission. Don't waste your money on stupidity.

Models: A Comprehensive Guide to Attracting Women Review

Models: A Comprehensive Guide to Attracting Women

First, I must mention I've been studying this field for nearly a decade. During that time I've read all the guides related to dating and PUA (David DeAngelo, Mystery, RSD, etc). And this book is the one that cuts most clearly through all the short-term fixes (routines and lines) and gets right to the core of the matter (what really makes you attractive).
This is exactly what I've discovered works over the decade I spend dating before getting into a great relationship. No routines or lines needed, just you. Highly recommended.
Now to nitpick, there are many grammar errors throughout the book. Missing words, mixed up words (like "my" instead of "me"), and a few sentences that don't flow right. The author should have the book professionally edited to fix these. That said, it's easy to ignore these minor errors as it doesn't affect the information inside - the important part - so I kept the rating at 5 stars.

Seductress: Women Who Ravished the World and Their Lost Art of Love Review

Seductress: Women Who Ravished the World and Their Lost Art of Love
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In SEDUCTRESS author Betsy Prioleau attempts to restore feminine sexual power to modern women. She examines the wiles of historical seductresses in a meticulous treatment of their histories. Intense research is a hallmark of her authoritative guide to sexual sovereignty.
Early in the book she puts down myths about the sexuality of the historical seductress with voluminous facts that substantiate her theories. She categorizes the seductresses into six prototypes. The first insidious falsehood is that seductresses must be young and beautiful, but she dispels the myth with stories of very ugly enchantresses of the past. Age is a second misnomer, with celebrated allure of "old dames." The third myth centers on the intellectuality of a real seductress, with intelligence winning out over stupidity. Inspiration and artistic endeavor allowed women to build careers, tearing away the vapid housewife myth. Real seductresses were "movers and shakers," playing heavy parts in the world of government. Lastly, she explores the seductress as wildly adventurous and rakishly professional.
Prioleau next explains the art of seduction: physical art, dress and ornamentation, hygiene and cosmetic usage, artful detail of setting, body language and music, lustful experience with sex, psychological affectation, intimacy and ego enhancement for the male, along with comedy as an aphrodisiac, festivity and dramatic impact. Seduction is now, according to Prioleau, with a look at the past. The learning curve is open to every woman. "Ladies choice," she proposes.
SEDUCTRESS sets forth an archetype for the sex goddesses in ancient history, with a chapter moving from goddess mythology, through the divinity of Inanna to the Greek love goddess Aphrodite. She is described as a "lioness on the loose in the Olympian firmament." History treats her with scorn but she survives in mysticism and fairy tales. Her decline is followed by the demonic Lillith, the two-faced vision of beauty and fiery serpentine demonism.
The author writes in the meat of SEDUCTRESS with passion about Belles Laides, her so-called homely sirens. Isabella Stewart Gardiner, known as Belle, stated, "Never ever behave with pride, self-confidence, and self-conceit." Wallis Simpson, the divorced siren who caused David Windsor to abdicate the British throne, is another less than beautiful personality described. A chapter titled "Silver Foxes" is a word picture of the elder seductress such as Diane de Poiters, George Sand of the nineteenth century, and Colette, the modern aging siren. Mae West takes a big bite of this chapter, adding the categories of money and status to adulation reserved for sexual prowess.
Siren-scholars, artists, political divas and adventurers unfold in the bulk of the book. Their lives are a checklist for the women of today, to develop a new seductress prototype in the fast-paced twenty-first century world that paints sex as an act rather than an art. Prioleau suggests that women can become happier, sexier and more vital. Generous lists of notes, suggested readings and an index substantiate the author's research on her educational and stimulating topic. Difficult to categorize as a self-help book, SEDUCTRESS offers enlightenment and entertainment in the realm of female entitlement.

The Book of Vice: Very Naughty Things (and How to Do Them) Review

The Book of Vice: Very Naughty Things (and How to Do Them)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
While this is nominally a book about vices, it is really a book about virtues, and it is an effective one: there are no lectures, no finger wagging a la Bill Bennett, no holier than thou passages. The chapter on lying savages those who bald face lie, taking apart Holocost deniers and Kerry defamers and both presidents Clinton and Bush. The one on consumption is a thoughtful review of evolutionary biology (we are wired to display the fruits of our wealth; it helps with a female finding a mate that will ensure the genes get passed on; who knew:waste is sexy) and how this wiring--- once useful --- now makes us do nutty stuff , like paying millions for celeb musicians to play at sweet sixteen parties. The chapter on swinging reminds us---as with many of the vices---that, as Shaw remarked, there are two great tragadies---one not to get your hearts desire , the other to get it. Sagal reminds us, in the end, not to get too worked up over what we think we don't have that others do, to be grateful for the small things, and to understand that a life without tempting vices is a life well worth living

Somewhere, somebody is having more fun than you are.

Orso everyone believes. Peter Sagal, a mild-mannered, Harvard-educated radio host—the man who puts the second "l" in "vanilla"—decided to find out if it's true. From strip clubs to gambling halls to swingers clubs to porn sets and back to the strip clubs (but only because he left his glasses there), Sagal explores what the sinful folk do, how much they pay for the privilege, and how exactly they got those funny red marks.

The Art of the Approach: The A Game Guide to Meeting Beautiful Women Review

The Art of the Approach: The A Game Guide to Meeting Beautiful Women

Like a lot of guys, I spent a lot of time in my younger days hanging out in parties, bars, other social situations, often unable to break the ice and approach women. I wish I had read something like this book years ago.
The author vrelates a lot of his own experiences and thought processes, and most readers will be able to identify with what he has to say.
The books presents some good ideas about how to initially approach women in a relatively painless way.
One thing the book does not address is the special problems that guys with disabilities, such as in wheelchairs, etc. may face. I can only hope that the authors considers adding material from that perspective in a later edition.
That aside, what is here is very good indeed.

2002 Things To Do On A Date: From Fun, Sometimes Silly, Romantic, to the Unique

Sure, if you are getting as large an amount as 2002 dating tips in one book, you can't expect them all to be gems. But if everything is rubbish, you have a right to say that the authors have done a lousy job.
Here are a few random examples of the fabulous creations of Ms. Haynes's and Mr. Edwrads's geniality:
Flirt only with each other. Whisper sweet nothings. Form a romantic poetry society. Sing Auld Lang Syne at midnight. Sit side by side on a park bench and watch the world go by. Teeter-totter an evening away. Take a taxi around your city to see the sights. Restore an antique car together. Discuss current events. Cure each other of the hiccups.
After browsing this truly amazing "book", I spent two minutes looking around in my room and lo - a dozen super hot dating tips popped into my head: look out of the window together, scratch your noses together, play a computer game together, try to break a pencil in two together, clean up your room together, clean up her room together etc etc.
Wow! I could become a best selling author, too. But why stop with "2002 Things to Do on a Date"? Why not write a dating tips series of, say, ten volumes? That would be a great starting point to move on - to "2002 Things to Do on a Business Lunch", for instance. Discuss what you like about your dish. Discuss what you dislike about your dish. Measure which one of you has a longer middle finger. Try to count each others' hair. Ha! I kill me!
To sum up: If you find ten useful tips in this book, you are very lucky

God Is a Woman: Dating Disasters Review

God Is a Woman: Dating Disasters
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
(Addendum: since writing this review, this book has received a raving review from the Mystery Forum, the best known pick up artists out there. The review came from the head of the forum himself.) This book is causing quite a stir on Amazon as readers give it Kudos everywhere. People are recommending it in reviews of all sorts of other books; like humor books, chick lit books, and pick up guides for guys. A few people who love the other books attack the recommendations as spam. Well, I'm here to set the record straight. After reading this book, I know it's not spam; it's people recommending a fantastic book. "God is a Woman: Dating Disasters" is better than all the books were people have mentioned it. The book is very, very, cleverly setup. Chick lit sucks; most of the books don't offer any real advice and just reinforce the women's behavior that hasn't been working in the first place. Pick up guides for guys are even worse. All the authors do is brag in stories about how great they are at picking up women. Read the reviews that praise those books; they all start the same "So-and-so is my god! He's so awesome!" There's no real advice in the books. ("Mystery Method" is an exception but I don't find much of it to be useful for the women I want to meet.) The guys that need the advice walk away thinking "I could never do that. I could never say that to a woman." So reading the book was pointless.

There are some reviews here that knock this book for not having stories about long-term relationships, saying that's because the author has no substance. Those readers completely missed the point of this book, let alone the title. It's not about successful relationships; it's about disasters, failures, and blunders. It's setup where Ian uses his screwups to let us know we can all be successful. You don't feel that he is some god with inexplicable abilities to meet women; you feel that he is just like you, someone who went thru the same errors in dating but figured it all out, as he tells you exactly what he figured out. He has long-term relationships "but they don't belong in this book since they were successful." He has far more substance than most guys, turning down advances from many women "because I hate that feeling of just wanting them immediately gone when it's over and would rather be with someone I want to stay and wrap my arms around." He alludes to having successful long-term relationships.

Ian's take on flirting is a great example of dozens and dozens in this book. "Flirting is key to successful dating and picking up women...I used to suck at flirting." He goes on to describe how he got good and tells guys how they can practice flirting and get good at it. He says that all of his long, successful relationships started with conversations that contained mostly flirting thru the initial meeting and the entire first date. Talking about things when you meet or on a first date like what you do or how many siblings you have, makes things dull fast and should be "saved for phone calls between dates or future dates." So, we know Ian's had long, good relationships (all his exes and he are still good friends, how many of us can say that?) and we have a great tip about how flirting played a huge role in getting those going and a blueprint for flirting ourselves.

The whole book is like that, funny and full of insightful, fresh advice. Reading this book to read about long-term, successful relationships is like going to an Italian restaurant and then being upset because you can't order Chinese food. Books about long-term relationships don't tell you how to get in them, how to date, or how to meet people. Again, they are pointless. Ian tells you how he's used his advice to get a date, get laid, or date someone, but he doesn't get into great detail about those successful stories because that's not the point of the book! DAH! He says that in the opening, which you can read here on Amazon by clicking "More Editorial Reviews." You walk away from this book feeling like "Hey, I can do this! He's been in far worse, more embarrassing situations than me and he makes it work now. So can I!"
