*Very* disappointed with this guide, particularly after using the very excellent Lonely Planet guides to Egypt, China and the fairly good one for Australia and another excellent one for Queensland, Australia.
Unfortunately this guide just went from bad to worse for me. E.G. Under various "Don't Miss Lists" it recommends items not found on any of their maps and with no specific address (Amphitheater, Marriot Marquis, Bow Bridge - contributing to the confusion and disappointment); for all of Chinatown this 300 pg guide lists a grand total of two (2) Chinese restaurants. And the entire borough of Staten Island? It gets less than a paragraph. Brooklyn gets a single page, Queens and the Bronx get half a page each. Amazing.
This *might* be a good guide if all you wanted was to go bar-hopping and stay in expensive hotels.
**Far and away better is the Rough Guide to New York City**
Sorry I bought this particular Lonely Planet guidebook. Even the Let's Go New York City guide is better! (You might also want to find a used copy of Cheap Bastard's Guide to New York City - fairly helpful).
